Food Network’s Cupcake Wars: The Final Frontier
Chefs Casey Shiller, Certified Executive Pastry Chef, and Dana Holland, executive chef of Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe appeared in the third episode of the third season of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, which aired Tuesday, June 28. Teammates Shiller and Holland competed against three other teams in a nationally-televised baking battle for a $10,000 grand prize. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe is the first St. Louis-based business to appear on Cupcake Wars, as well as the first team in the show’s history to represent a business from the state of Missouri – and now the first team from Missouri to win!
The episode was titled The Final Frontier, an outer space theme where bakers competed to have their tasty treats front and center at a VIP party honoring the first man in space. View epsode information and recipe for Banana Toffee Cupcakes.

Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe won the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” competition in June, 2011. Now the St. Louis bakery and restaurant is expanding its University City store amid record sales. A new entrance, additional seating, a larger kitchen, plus an observation window into the cupcake-decorating studio were among the changes at Jilly’s when it reopened Sept. 16 after an 11-day remodel. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe took home a win last night on the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”. Chefs Casey Shiller and Dana Holland won with four space-themed cupcakes in an episode called “Final Frontier.” The winning desserts included a pineapple and mango cupcake evoking the sun; a cupcake with banana, caramel, toffee and astronaut ice cream; one with almonds and orange Tang; and a chocolate cupcake garnished with raspberries and raspberry fizz candy. St. Louis bakers Win ‘Cupcake Wars’
Executive pastry chef Casey Shiller of Jilly’s Cupcake Bar in University City rocketed past three competitors on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” Tuesday night. Assisted by chef Dana Holland, Shiller – a self-proclaimed “space geek” – served up three rounds of cupcakes for a party marking the 50th anniversary of the first American in space. The nation now knows what University City residents have always known. That Jilly’s cupcakes are out of this world delicious. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar and Cafe was the winner on Tuesday night’s episode of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.
